Polaroid, with its instant charm and timeless appeal, has captured our hearts for decades. Since its inception in 1937, this iconic photographic medium has been a source of creative expression, documenting real-life moments and pushing the boundaries of art. In an exciting celebration of Polaroid photography, 50 talented international photographers will be showcasing their work in Paris from November 10th to 12th, 2023. One of the photographers selected for this exhibition is the American artist Edie Sunday. Polaroid has handpicked photographers to celebrate the launch of its new generation of Instant cameras, aiming to champion the beauty of real life and inspire creatives to embrace the unpredictable, messy, and uncontrollable aspects of existence.

Edie Sunday, known for her distinctive use of colour and light, has a unique perspective on Polaroid photography. She reminds us that, much like in life, no two Polaroid shots are identical. It is our imperfections that make us exceptional. Edie’s work explores both the conscious and the unconscious, weaving a narrative through the hues and tones of instant film.

The Polaroid medium, with its instant gratification and unique characteristics, has always been a playground for creative minds. It allows artists to engage with their subjects and surroundings in ways that transcend traditional photography. The physicality of a Polaroid photograph, its texture and colors, all play a role in the creative process.

As curator Francesco Sambati beautifully puts it, “Polaroid photography is a tribute to the beauty of the unexpected, the extraordinary in the ordinary, and the unique in the imperfect.”
