Marie-Sara Obrecht has been connected to photography since she was a teenager, using it as a way to tell her personal stories and share her emotions. For her, photography isn’t just about capturing an image—it’s a way to communicate and invite others into her world.
She has a special love for Polaroid photography. Polaroids’ hands-on, physical nature appeals to her because each photo is unique. With only a limited number of shots in a cartridge, she takes her time to carefully think about each frame. The surprises that come with Polaroid—unexpected colours or light spots—are part of what makes it such an exciting medium for her. Marie-Sara enjoys experimenting with these imperfections and letting the process guide the final result.
But she doesn’t stop at simply taking photos. Marie-Sara likes to add another layer by embroidering onto her Polaroids, giving each one extra texture and depth. She’s also known for creating dresses out of Polaroid prints. What’s special about these dresses is that they’re made from “failed” Polaroid photos that other photographers were going to throw away. By collecting these discarded prints, she gives them a new life, turning what might have been seen as mistakes into something beautiful and creative.
Marie-Sara’s work has been exhibited multiple times, and her passion for Polaroid photography continues to grow. Be sure to follow her journey—her work is full of creativity and always evolving.
