The staircase, which is available on Netflix, shows almost in real-time the trial of writer Michael Peterson, accused of killing his wife in 2001. Started out as a docu-series of 8 chapters, but after the new developments from 2015, the director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade returned the story to its end offering a total of 13 chapters along which the viewer empathizes not only with the accused but with all and each one of the parts of the story.
