To be able to talk about what One Instant means to us, we first have to refer to the creation of Polaroid technology and all the human, technological, economical resources and ,basically, time that have motivated the growth of a photographic format for decades, and then to its own extinction: a chronicle of an announced death.
Today, that announced chronicle has a light at the end of the tunnel. Florian “Doc” Kaps, a visionary of the analogue technologies, and the founder of the famous The Impossible Project, has been busy with the SUPERSENSE project since 2014, making the products and technologies around analogue photography last.
Today, 5th December 2018 is a historical date. After having worked for years under a message that many of us have read as an almost impossible project again, Florian has managed to develop a film that can replicate the original “peel-apart” film, and needs all our help to make this technology a reality.

It is not a conventional film, it is not the classic photo cartridge to which we were accustomed. It is a single photo per cartridge that will take the pulse of the creators, give more energy to a vital business, and quiet down those who have doubted the power of instant photography. If everything goes as planned, 2019 will be the year where we can once again recover moments with a quality superior to the analogue film produced today.
In the same spirit that has made Kaps undertake several analogue missions he explains:
“Honestly, I understand that it does not make any sense for Fuji or Polaroid to think about possible ways to build a future for “essentially important” niche market products that will never ever earn them millions. But as these big companies are getting bigger and bigger, gaining more and more control in this world, we are loosing more and more wonderful products and technologies on a daily basis. We are perfectly ready to call our mission and our beloved product crazy. And yes, we are even more motivated by being told by the “experts” and industry leaders that this will be impossible”.
Polaroid of the day began its journey with a Polaroid 320 acquired many years ago in Barcelona, where professionals obtained them and sold with much love, ready to shoot. Our first articles speak clearly in the “peel-apart” format.
SUPERSENSE, it could be said, is the palace where the dreams of thousand photographers in this magical format would like to live. Literally, located in a Venetian palace in the heart of Vienna, it is everything that we are passionate about: a printing studio, a photo studio, a concept store, a cafe and a shop. If you go to this fantastic city, do not forget to visit them, they deserve all our affection, affection and respect for their great dedication to make our work meaningful and transcend to a thousand generations more.
Para hablar de lo que significa One Instant para nosotros, tenemos que remitirnos a la creación de la tecnología Polaroid y de todos los recursos humanos, tecnológicos, económicos y básicamente de tiempo, que han motivado al crecimiento de un formato fotográfico durante décadas, y luego a su propia extinción: una crónica de una muerte anunciada.
Hoy, esa crónica anunciada tiene una luz al final del túnel. Florian “Doc” Kaps, visionario de las tecnologías análogas, y fundador del famoso The Impossible Project, lleva desde el 2014 bajo el proyecto SUPERSENSE, trabajando en perdurar los productos y las tecnologías alrededor de la fotografía analógica.
Hoy, 5 de diciembre de 2018, es una fecha histórica. Luego de haber trabajado durante años bajo un mensaje que muchos leímos como un proyecto casi imposible, han conseguido desarrollar una película que podrá replicar la original película “peel-apart”, y necesitan de toda nuestra ayuda para que esta tecnología se convierta en realidad.

No es una película convencional, no es el clásico cartucho de fotos con los que estábamos acostumbrados. Es una sola foto por cartucho que tomará el pulso a los creadores, dará más energía a un negocio vital, y pondrá contra las cuerdas a los que han dudado del poder de la fotografía instantánea. Si todo sale como lo han planeado, el 2019 será el año donde podemos volver a recuperar instantes con una calidad superior a la película analógica que se produce hoy en día.
Con el mismo espíritu que Kaps llevó a cabo varias misiones analógicas, explica:
“Honestamente, entiendo que no tiene ningún sentido que Fuji o Polaroid piensen en posibles formas de construir un futuro para productos “esencialmente importantes” del mercado nicho que nunca les harán ganar millones. Pero a medida que estas grandes compañías se hacen cada vez más grandes, ganan cada vez más control en este mundo, estamos perdiendo cada vez más productos y tecnologías maravillosas a diario. Estamos perfectamente preparados para llamar locos a nuestra misión y a nuestro querido producto. Y sí, estamos más motivados aun cuando los “expertos” y los líderes de la industria nos dicen que esto será imposible “.
