Leinad Pájaro De la Hoz is a Colombian film director and photographer. His work in cinema borders the boundary between fiction and documentary, based on both realistic and spiritual themes. His work has special interest in the form of narration, the absence of dialogues and the weight of silence. He recently discovered photography as a powerful tool in creating atmospheres in a study of light and form. “When I do not shoot, I do analog photography to keep myself in that artistic and creative inertia, it’s simply a space to tell a story, a moment; and to portray an atmosphere,”
The photography for Leinad is the equivalent for a poet of pencil and paper, for the musician of his instruments and sound, and for a painter his brush. It’s Leinad’s tool for expressing, posing a question and experiencing, since many of the themes are about to become fiction films.
Curiously, many of those themes start with a gesture, a body, light, a space and an experimental sound: “Many of my photographs are born from a sound, a poem or a verse and I try to represent the beauty of what I feel and is transmitted to me in concrete shapes to finally get a photograph that I like. ”
Some of these photos belong to two of his projects, “Ambiance” and “Manifesto”. They are the parallel worlds, love and as well a window to the subcultures of the city of Barranquilla.
Leinad Pájaro De la Hoz es un director de cine y fotógrafo colombiano. Su trabajo en cine bordea el limite entre la ficción y el documental, basándose en temas tanto realistas como espirituales. Su trabajo tiene especial interés en la forma de la narración, la ausencia de diálogos y en el peso del silencio. Recientemente descubrió la fotografía como una herramienta poderosa en la creación de atmósferas en el estudio de la luz y la forma. “Cuando no filmo, realizo fotografía analógica para mantenerme en esa inercia artística y creativa, simplemente es un espacio para contar una historia, un momento y retratar una atmósfera”,
La fotografía para Leinad es el equivalente entre un poeta del lápiz y el papel, para el músico sus instrumentos y el sonido y para un pintor su pincel. Es una herramienta para expresar, plantearse una pregunta y de experimentar, ya que muchos de sus temas están por convertirse en películas de ficción.
Curiosamente muchos de sus temas parten de un gesto, de un cuerpo, de una luz, de un espacio y de un sonido experimental: “Muchas de mis fotografías nacen a partir de un sonido, de un poema o un versículo e intento representar la belleza de lo que siento y me transmite, en formas concretas para finalmente obtener una fotografía que me guste”.
Algunas de estas fotos pertenecen a dos de sus proyectos, “Ambiance” y “Manifesto”, sobre la forma, los mundos paralelos, el amor y lo desechable así como una ventana a las subculturas de la ciudad de Barranquilla.
