Isabel Herrera was born and raised in Guatemala City, where she still lives with her family. The photographer also has an academic background in Psychology and Education and has worked in these fields for the past 20 years.
Isabela’s interest in exploring the possibilities with photography began around 2014 after working in a project with a renown Latin American artist who is now her mentor and a close friend.
Eventually Isabel discovered the Polaroid SX70 Camera and its endless possibilities. With it she was able to continue in her pursuit for a desired poetic freedom while connecting to nature.
Instant photography permits me to have a means where I can portray my vision of life, my dreams, an enduring nostalgia, my concerns. I search to capture instants of presence, of complete stillness and silence: attempts to attain serenity.
La fotografía instantánea me permite tener un medio donde poder retratar mi visión de la vida, mis sueños, una nostalgia duradera, mis preocupaciones. Busco capturar instantes de presencia, de completa quietud y silencio: intentos de alcanzar la serenidad.
